Massage Therapy In North Metro Denver Including Northglenn, Westminster and Thornton

Treatment-focused (clinical) massage therapy for:

  • Low back pain
  • Headache/migraine
  • Carpal tunnel
  • Injuries from accidents, sports, falls, etc.
  • Tendonitis
  • Sciatica and shin-splints
  • Repetitive movement injury
  • TMJ
  • Plantar fasciitis

Treatment- focused massage techniques can provide relief from acute or chronic pain, and include deep tissue, neuromuscular massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, SMRT (positional release,) etc.

These are generally done only on the problem areas, and often a series of treatments may be necessary to achieve the best result.

Does Deep Tissue Have To Hurt To Get Results?

Painful areas must be addressed carefully to allow proper healing. Pressure is always applied at the client’s comfort level, and will be customized for each individual’s need.

PAIN is NEVER a good thing, but there is a difference between tenderness, discomfort and pain.  For a deep tissue, or clinical (treatment-focused) massage, you may see results sooner if you can tolerate brief, mild discomfort during your treatment.

Always communicate with your LMT about your tolerance and comfort level during your session.

What is a trigger point?

A Trigger Point is a taught band of muscle tissue within the belly of the muscle. These can be tender when activated, or even burn or radiate pain to other areas. If you experience this, inform your therapist, as this is generally one of the key areas to help eliminate your pain and may need a few moments more attention to treat most effectively. Take a deep breath and let it all out, the tenderness should subside within about 10-15 seconds when the muscle releases.

Relaxation-focused therapy for:

  • General health and well being
  • Relaxation
  • Headaches
  • Stress
  • Depression
  • High blood pressure
  • Insomnia
  • Anxiety

Relaxation-focused therapies, generally known as Swedish massage, use moderate/light pressure combining long strokes, kneading, and friction to detoxify the body, soothe and ease sore muscles, and improve circulation. Swedish massage can be beneficial for improving blood and lymph circulation, decreasing tension, and stimulating tissue repair

  • A relaxation-focused massage may be ideal for the first-time massage experience, or for a full body massage.  Many clients prefer a combination of treatment-focused work and relaxation.

What To Wear During Your Massage?

Most importantly, you must feel comfortable!

Many people choose to be fully undressed for the treatment, in which case proper draping is always utilized; only the body part being worked on is undraped.

Massage can also easily and effectively be administered while you are fully clothed, or with only minimal clothing removal.  Never feel as though you need to undress any further than your comfort level.
